The 63rd edition of Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, Europe’s most important event for recreational vehicle manufacturers and end customers, is taking place from August 31th to September 8th. Fiat Professional is starring at the German event at Stellantis Pro One’s stand (D42 in pavilion 16), where it is showing off a Ducato Van.
The model on display highlights the Italian brand's focus on the Recreational Vehicle sector, a historic and strategic business for FIAT Professional. The iconic model has enjoyed success for over 40 years, winning various international awards, including the prestigious title of “Best Motorhome Base Vehicle of the Year” assigned by the readers of Promobil, the German trade magazine, for 16 consecutive years, which confirms the Fiat Ducato as the reference point for the Germans in the recreational vehicle sector.
The crown jewel of the new Ducato is the new AT8 automatic transmission and 450 Nm of torque, which guarantees a significant 10% reduction in C02 emissions thanks to the installation of more balanced, efficient, and much more controlled torque. Additionally, it includes a new hydraulic accumulator, a key component in shifting gears which allows one to get the most out of the engine’s power by reducing the transmission’s response time and assists in the more fluid operation of the Start & Stop system.
The new transmission is also available on the Ducato Camper, which provides further proof of FIAT Professional’s constant dedication to satisfying a diversified customer base.
Lastly, the new AT8 features are especially enhanced by the completely upgraded 2,2-liter Multijet 4.0 engines, with its fourth generation, Multijet direct-injection system and new exhaust gas recirculation system which has been optimized with a double circuit to improve its reliability, performance, and emissions. The new engine meets Light Duty (Euro 6E) and Heavy Duty (Euro VIE) standards.
Specifically, the vehicle on display at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon features a medium wheelbase, 180 HP and is equipped with the new automatic transmission AT8. The Ducato van (L2, H2) also presents a full Safety Camper Pack with assistance assets such as the Lane Support System, the Traffic Sign Recognition and Intelligent Speed Assist. For the comfort of the motorhomes’ drivers, the model features a pivoting captain chair and provides an easy driving experience thanks to its adaptive cruise control. Fog lights with cornering function, blind spot assist and rear cross path detection complement the set-up with the included electric folding wing mirrors, 360° perimeter parking sensors, and a rearview camera for easier maneuvers. In addition, the driver and the passengers can enjoy their adventures on the road with a 10'' touchscreen radio DAB NAV and full digital cluster. Furthermore, the next generation Ducato’s new front design is aimed at improving its best-in-class aerodynamic efficiency and reducing fuel usage by up to 10% with new bumpers, new skid plates, new external rearview wing mirrors and an innovative front grill with a modern design in the same color as the FIAT body.
Alongside product excellence, FIAT Professional has put together an ecosystem of high-quality services which daily assist more than 1 million Ducato camper owners throughout Europe. Clients can count on Stellantis Road Assistance available 24 hours a day and specialized customer care agents ready to support motorhome customers in 10 different languages.
Fiat Professional’s flagship has been produced since 1981 and sold in more than 80 countries throughout the world. Its success stems from an approach that conceives the vehicle as a platform for add-ons from the development stage. Its architecture is rational and professional for activities connected to business, but flexible and eclectic for recreational use. In fact, FIAT Professional vehicles are produced following the “born to be a motorhome” philosophy, thanks to the constant exchange and collaboration with the best motorhome manufacturers in the field.
